The Dart Gallery returns for ‘A Winters Gale’

Greetings Dartmouthians!

It feels like forever since I’ve written or seen any of you. The Dart Gallery has now been closed for two whole months and we can’t wait to get back – and after oh so long, the time has come.

Our first show of the year is finally happening and is opening this Thursday, Feb 18 from 7-10pm. We are so thrilled to be starting the year with such a stellar artist – Doug Belding presents ‘A Winters Gale’ his first solo show at Dart. This is a beautiful and inspiring show with a theme of ‘discovery into the emotions and nostalgia that winter can bring.’ And don’t worry about feeling chilly, ‘cause Doug’s gorgeous colours will warm and inspire.

Doug is also an accomplished Art Battle participant and champion, an event where artists create an artwork in 20 minutes in front of a live audience who selects the winner. A two time provincial champion, NS and NB, he has also competed at the National level. You can read more about Art Battle and Doug’s participation here:

As part of the opening event, Doug will be painting live at 7:45pm! Don’t miss seeing a highly skilled artist in action, creating art right in front of you. We’re very excited to have Doug share his talents and add to opening night in this way. You can check out Doug’s website here:

As well, an update on renovations at the gallery – it will be a little while still until everything is completed. For the next few weeks you’ll be able to visit Dart as you remember it; we’re doing our best to get everything done and welcome our good friends at Picnic as soon as possible! And we’ll let you know the moment it’s ready to enjoy. Thanks to everyone who came out to the most recent downtown Dartmouth Food Crawl to sample some of Chef Al’s creations – you can look forward to much more deliciousness soon!

Looking forward to seeing you all soon.
