Meet Dana Landry, Holistic Nutritionist and Homeopath

Dana 2

Dana Landry is passionate about homeopathy – a system of alternative medicine that has been around for over 200 years. It’s used to treat a variety of chronic conditions.

Read on to learn a little of the theory of homeopathy, and what Dana loves about practicing it.

Tell us a little about what homeopathy is

DL:  Homeopathy is a form of holistic medicine (not herbal) used by millions of people worldwide to treat both acute and chronic conditions. It is based on the principle of ‘like cures like’ – a substance taken in small amounts will cure the same symptoms it causes if it was taken in large amounts.

Homeopathy engages the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Homeopathy treats the individual not the disease. There are acute remedies and constitutional remedies. Acute remedies like Arnica treat bruises and inflammation while constitutional remedies are chosen by a Homeopath for the individual based on the whole person for issues that are physical, mental and emotional.

How did you decide that it’s what you wanted to do as a career?

DL: I’ve been in the natural health field for a number of years and was drawn to Homeopathy. Homeopathy was the only medicine that cured me of a chronic condition. I tried allopathic (western medicine) but had no luck. Homeopathy is known for helping when allopathic medicine hasn’t worked.

What qualifications do you need to become a homeopath?

DL: To become a qualified homeopath you must attend a qualified school for four years. I went to the School of Homeopathy in Devon, England.

Why did you decide to open your practice in Dartmouth?

DL: I live in Dartmouth and like to work where I live.

What’s the best thing about your job?

DL: The best thing about my job is helping people. To see children and adults get better from allergies, asthma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, vertigo (you name it) is the best feeling.
