Greetings, fellow Dartmouthians!
I hope you’ve been doing well – it’s been far too long since I’ve posted in Hello Dartmouth! Sorry about that – I’ve been keeping busy at the gallery and at home. First, I thought I would share some good news – I’m a big brother now! I have a new brother and sister, Boris and Alice. We’ve had lots of fun playing together already and only a few minor fights. But, disagreements happen with little siblings sometimes, don’t they!? Boris and Alice are unlikely to make too many appearances at the gallery anytime soon, but who knows what the future will bring.
The anticipation for the next show at The Dart Gallery has been building for months. On October 29, Wendy Bissett Beaver returns with her second solo show, “As Scene by City & Sea.” As Wendy says, ““My work is about colour, vibrancy, and capturing life along with the fun and beauty that exists in everyday objects, buildings and surroundings. For this show I’ve created pieces that will remind people of beloved fishing communities and showcase scenes of Dartmouth in a new light for those who have special feelings toward Nova Scotia and the Atlantic.”
Wendy’s fun and whimsical style is instantly recognizable and has become hugely popular and beloved at the gallery. If you enjoy imaginative and fun portrayals of our city and our province, you don’t want to miss this show.
Join us at 127 Portland Street on October 29 from 7-9pm for the opening of ‘As Scene by City & Sea.’ Wendy will be at the event to say hello and I know it will be a great night and include delicious treats that Grandma Carol makes too.
Looking ahead, we have several wonderful new shows before the end of the year – I’ll tell you more about them next time. And, we have some exciting things in the works for 2016 – stay tuned!
As always,
Peace, love, & carrots,
Huxley
