Please join us at The Craig Gallery this Sunday (provided we can dig ourselves out of the endless snow!) for Barbara Schmeisser’s Illustrated Artist Talk March 22, 1:30-2:30PM. Schmeisser will be discussing concept, process and history of her experience as artist and concept development. All welcome. FREE event!
Exhibit runs March 5-March 29
You can read a review of her show by Elissa Barnard in the Chronicle Herald here:
“femininsight challenges the audience with ironic contrasts, dark humour and metaphor within constructed steel sculptures and assemblages. As depictions of social and cultural determinants of female gender roles and identity, they are ‘social reconstructions’ offering a different perspective. The body of work is a reflection on the subtleties and ubiquitous nature of the impact of varying and increasing venues of social pressures, and commodity consumerism on 8 month to 8 year old girls.”
Her last show at The Craig Gallery featured oversized steel handcuffs, this year will be very different, we are anticipating a unique and thought-provoking exhibit!
